hospital When Ozark Health was founded in 1950, the Korean Conflict was underway, a loaf of bread cost 14¢, and Harry Truman was the 33rd President of the United States.  At that time, the 12 bed medical facility was known as the Van Buren County Hospital. As the first hospital in the county the hospital had a bright future ahead of it.

In 1963 Van Buren County Hospital qualified for funding to add a 34 bed nursing home. Additional funding was also obtained through a local bond issue. With local and national support the County Hospital was ready for the much needed expansion.

In 1974 the hospital began a remodeling and modernization program. The nursing home was also remodeled, as well as, enlarged to accommodate an additional 92 beds. The nursing home addition was completed in 1965.In August 1982, the Van Buren County Hospital was renamed Ozark Health, Inc., and continued to grow and expand. Starting in 1990 more than 5000 square feet of space and 20 additional beds were added. Now the hospital was ready to not only serve Van Buren County, but the surrounding areas as well.

In August 2004, Ozark Health moved into its new facility just south of Clinton, Arkansas on Highway 65. The new, state-of-the-art medical facility was the first hospital in the nation to be designed and constructed as a Critical Access Hospital; additionally, it is one of only three hospitals in Arkansas to have a Nursing home attached to it.  This new facility is a major advancement in health services for the entire region and a huge asset for all future development. With the new building came a new era, “ Ozark Health, The Shorter Road to Recovery”.
